Open to new patients - ADHD, autism and combined assessments

Support

Anxiety and mental health support

Careful assessment and ongoing management of anxiety, low mood and emotional wellbeing in children and young people - including the anxiety that so often travels alongside autism and ADHD.

What this can help with

  • Persistent worry that is hard to interrupt
  • Reluctance or refusal to attend school
  • Physical symptoms - stomach aches, headaches, nausea
  • Trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep
  • Panic episodes or avoidance of specific situations
  • Withdrawal from friends and activities they used to enjoy
  • Low mood, irritability or a loss of motivation
  • Anxiety sitting alongside an autism or ADHD diagnosis

None of these on their own mean a diagnosis. Assessment is about understanding the whole picture of your child across home, school and social life.

Understanding what's driving it

Anxiety is a symptom before it is a diagnosis. It matters enormously whether a child is anxious because of something happening in their life, because a learning difficulty is making school feel impossible, or because an undiagnosed neurodevelopmental difference means the world is relentlessly demanding.

We start by understanding the cause rather than managing the surface. That sometimes means the right next step is an autism or ADHD assessment instead - and we will say so.

Ongoing management

Support is planned with you and your child together. Depending on what is needed that can include practical strategies for home and school, work with your child's school, a plan for graded return where school attendance has broken down, and medication with regular review where that is clinically appropriate.

We stay involved. Emotional wellbeing rarely resolves in one appointment, and reviews are part of the plan rather than an afterthought.

When we're not the right service

If your child is in crisis or at risk of harm, please contact your GP, NHS 111, or emergency services. We are a planned outpatient service and are not able to provide urgent or crisis care.

How the assessment works

  1. 01

    Get in touch

Send a short enquiry describing your concerns. We'll tell you which type of appointment fits, or say honestly if we're not the right service.

  2. 02

    Pre-assessment information

We gather developmental history, school observations and standardised questionnaires before you come in, so clinic time is spent with your child.

  3. 03

    Clinic appointment

An unhurried consultation at our Leamington Spa clinic with direct observation and time for both you and your child to be heard.

  4. 04

    Diagnosis explained

Findings are explained in plain language on the day - what they mean, what they don't, and what happens next.

  5. 05

    Written report

A full report you can share with school, your GP and the NHS, written to NICE standards.

  6. 06

    Ongoing management

Where treatment or medication is appropriate, we review, titrate and support rather than discharge you at diagnosis.

Common questions

Do you offer therapy sessions?

We provide medical assessment, formulation and ongoing management rather than weekly talking therapy. Where therapy is the right treatment, we will say so and help you understand what to look for.

My child is already diagnosed with autism or ADHD - can you help with their anxiety?

Yes, and this is a large part of what we do. Anxiety very often accompanies both, and treating it well means taking the neurodevelopmental picture into account.

Can you help with school refusal?

We can assess what is behind it, which is usually the missing piece, and support a planned, graded return alongside your child's school.

What if my child needs urgent help?

Please contact your GP, NHS 111 or emergency services. We are a planned outpatient service and cannot provide crisis care.

Talk to us about your child

Tell us a little about your concerns and we'll advise on the right type of appointment - there's no obligation to book.
